About the site. . .

This site is mainly a personal blog where I share some of the sewing projects I’ve been working on and what I’m learning through the process of teaching myself to sew. Sewing is therapy for me! It’s my creative release. (I’m creative at work too, just in a different way :) That said, I do not currently take custom orders, nor do I do alterations. I do however, run a small shop for fellow makers where I sell sewing patterns that I’ve acquired but don’t plan on using myself. If you’re like me and you love sewing, please check back often. You may find just what you need for your next project!

About me. . .

Hi everyone!

I'm so excited to blog about the things I've been creating! I would consider myself a novice (leaning toward intermediate) sewist, but if there's one thing I love, it's learning! Hence the name of my blog :) Each time I sew something new, I learn something new. And that just makes me even more excited to start the next project!

I first began sewing in November of 2017 when my husband got me an early Christmas gift, and let me just say, it is the gift that KEEPS. ON. GIVING!! I handmade ALL my Christmas gifts that year and was never more excited to see people open their presents lol. I started off with small make-up bags and coffee cozies, but quickly began wanting to try more ambitious projects. I’ve now graduated to making my own jeans, dresses, tops, bags, etc. I make button-down shirts and jackets for my husband. I’m studying how to improve the fit of the garments I make and I love seeing the improvement in each new garment.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. Welcome, welcome!

My Family

In June of 2016, I married my other half. We live in Missouri and are both educators by day.

My work

I have been a teacher for over 15 years and I just love teaching children of all ages. My area of expertise is foreign languages and I’m certified to teach German and Spanish to elementary and secondary students.

My Passion

I am very passionate about foreign languages. I love learning about other cultures and am lucky enough to have traveled to many different countries. I've also always loved music and singing and that is reflected a lot in my teaching style. And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE crafting! I love all things DIY. When I got married, I made most of the decorations (including bouquets and centerpieces) myself. What's the saying? If you want it done right...lol.

I’ve only been sewing for a few years, but I love that even as somewhat of a novice, there is so much that I can make! I've already been able to bless my family with handmade items that are useful and that they really seem to love. I gave my husband a necktie that I made for Christmas just a few months after receiving my sewing machine. Now, just a few years later, I’m able to make gowns, jeans, and so much more!
